How to Create a Facebook Business Page?

We live in a generation where almost everything is done via or with the help of the internet. Especially when it comes to online businesses or trying to meet like-minded people. With the following steps, you can start your very own Facebook business page.

 

Step 1:  You need to go to the “Create Page” tab.

Step 2: Select the type of page that you want to create.

You can select one from the following:

  • Local Business or Place
  • Brand or Product
  • Company, Institution, or organization
  • Entertainment
  • Public Figure, band, or entertainment
  • Community or social cause

You need to choose one of these types based on the type of business that you have. Each of these page types has its own pros and drawbacks that will help you.

Step 3: Choosing a suitable category

When it comes to Facebook pages, setting the category for these pages are very important. Apart from the Cause or Community page, any other page that you choose will require a category for it. You can select it from the drop-down menu which has a lot of options.

The reason why this category is important with the Graph search. This will also help people finding your business easily.

Step 4: The perfect business name

A simple yet crucial step when it comes to starting a business page. You need to have the perfect name that is suitable for the type of page that you are going to create. You need to select a name such that people will be able to see and find your business in the Graph Search. It is recommended that give the same name for your Facebook page as your business’s name. This will prevent it from being generic and will make it easier for people to find you.

Step 5:  Facebook Pages Terms

To progress further in designing your FB page you have to agree to Facebook’s terms. Make sure that you read all the terms on this page because Facebook is constantly tweaking and changing them.

Step 6: Click on the “Get Started” button.

After following the first five steps, click on the “Get Started” button, to complete creating the page.

Step 7: Setting up the page

This is an optional process where you can fill out the information about your business. But it is recommended that you fill it up now. The info that you enter here will appear on the “About” page and also in the “About” section of the page’s timeline.

The things that you need to enter are:

  • The category — There is no dropdown menu here. You just need to type in the category that you want to correlate with. This is important in Graph Search.
  • Adding a meaningful description — This part will appear as the “About Section” on your page’s timeline. This will not happen if you have chosen the Local Business type.
  • The website — People should know that they can find your business outside Facebook also. Facebook will then ask you “Is (name of your page) business a real establishment, business or venue”? And then check on the yes checkbox.

After you have selected Yes option, you will again be asked by Facebook the following question “Will (name of your page) business be the authorized and official representation of this establishment, business or venue on Facebook?”

Check on the Yes option again. But if you are setting up a fan page for a fictional character or TV show or celebrity and aren’t the official brand representative, then this is not applicable to you.

After this is completed click on the “Save Info” button and your information will get saved.

Step 8: Add a suitable Profile Picture

Adding a suitable profile picture to your page is important. You can upload the image you want from your computer folders or you can import them from a website. One thing you need to keep in mind is that the image that you are uploading should be of at least 180 pixels wide. Only then will Facebook accept it otherwise it will be rejected.

Upload your desired image and click on the “next” button.

Step 9: Like Your Page

You will be guided through this path by Facebook itself.

The first part will direct you to the Like your page option. But if you are not set for the public to see your business page then it is best that you hold off on the Liking part. If that is the case you need to click on the “skip” button.

Step 10: Invite your contacts.

One of the best ways to score a lot of likes on your page is through inviting people in your contacts list to like it.

But if you are not ready to let the public view your page then you can just ignore this part this you are ready.

Step 11: Share interesting content

Your page is now considered as a business page by Facebook and it will encourage you to post or share something. You can start off by posting a “Welcome” image or a warm greeting. If you don’t have any people liking the page just yet, then you might have to wait till people come onto your page and like it. After that, you can post important links.

Step 12: Add a suitable cover image.

Adding a suitable cover image to your business page will make it seem very professional or in some cases friendly and inviting. Thought it is not promoted by Facebook, it is definitely important that you add a cover image. And for your cover image, it needs to have the following requirements. It needs to be of 851 pixels wide and 315 pixels tall, the size of the image should be less than 100 KB this is to get the best load time, it also should not have more than 20% text.

You can test the desired cover photo and see if it breaks the rules.
